In 2021, we had an enquiry from a client in Germany who was rebuilding their home. They wanted Impervia flooring, and we exported over 160 m2 to Germany.
Impervia herringbone used throughout a private home in Germany. This article looks at why a private client chose to purchase from the UK rather than use ‘similar’ products already in circulation in the EU.
Client: Private homeowner, Saarbrücken, Germany
Our client from a South Western city in Germany that borders France approached us whilst they were building their dream family home.
They had scoured the internet and a number of retail stores looking for a herringbone floor that was the right colour, was hardwearing, could be installed in a continuous run without any breaks for expansion across various subfloor types and be resistant to water (or alike) as it would be also fitted in the kitchen and bathrooms.
Their search eventually led them to us; the only manufacturer of a flooring product that not only met their requirements but exceeded them.
Below is an excerpt from an email we received from them some fit after the fitout:
“We are so happy with the floor, it feels so good, looks amazing, is very easy to clean and I can just let my kids play without worrying about scratches. Thank you so much again for sending it so far!
You can add that all the guests think it is real wood and that it is amazing in the bathrooms because it is so slip-proof (if that is the correct word).”
A further challenge here is that post-BREXIT moving goods to and from the EU is tricky, especially for individuals. After a fair amount of research and working with UK Customs, HMRC and a number of shippers we discovered how to ship such orders without getting stopped once the receiving country wanted to charge the required duties. Therefore, if you’re looking for flooring for you home that is outside of the UK we can very likely offer a door-to-door delivery service. For businesses, you’ll ideally have an EORI number which simplifies the process, but failing that we can still find a transport solution.
Our clients chose our Impervia Herringbone Champagne Oak flooring, which offers a beautiful light tone, like a good vintage Dom Perignon bottle of expensive Champagne.
The Champagne Oak herringbone is an all-rounder that works with a variety of decor. It’s a minimal variation of any character and colour, creating a softer, consistent appearance, which can be suitable for many different residential spaces, such as kitchens and bathrooms.
Offering designer durability, this luxury flooring comes with a built-in acoustic dampening IXPE backing and is suitable for underfloor heating to keep things warm and cosy in the winter months. It’s push-fit Valinge 5G-i system offers simple installation, whilst it has the added benefit of being water and stain resistant.
Our Herringbone Champagne Oak flooring is the sustainable solution you’ve been looking for. It’s not expensive and is environmentally friendly. It’s certified with GOLD Greenguard certification, which means it’s safe for people with Asthma and other allergies. Furthermore, with no need for any additional underlay or adhesive, Impervia® is the product you need to completely reinvent a space. It’s the nearest thing to real wood without the worry of humidity or water damage. Better yet, Impervia® is waterproof, fireproof and formaldehyde free flooring.
